Studio Idents

Idents are studio animations this is what we see before a film is about to start. Adverting the production company to the viewers showing that they are the company that created the film they are about to watch.  Idents are were the production companies name is shown and they have a logo o go with it this normally has some type of original music and is shown in moving animation. This  helps viewers recognise production companies and helps production companies be noticed and have credit on their films. Companies do change their idents every so often to show change as every so often companies like to change their image so they change the idents so they follow the new theme however their is never a massive change all in one it normally changes ever so slightly.

There are different types of studio idents which are majors and indies. Majors are companies that have been around a long time which are well known big production companies and indies are less known production companies as majors make billions and loads of profit on their films indies have less money and make less profit due to the fact they are not big enough companies due to this indies films can come across as looking cheaply made sometimes as they don't have as much money as major companies to produce the films they make, indies are independent film companies however major production companies work together.

Over the years these companies below have changed their logos more and more over the years which don't show how much of a dramatic change has taken place until you look at the logo much earlier on to present.

Walt Disney's ident is Cinderella's castle in their original U.S Disney land theme park, when Disney bought Pixar the animated 2D castle become 3D which was Pixar's idea. Walt Disney's logo represent fairy tales and hopes and dreams. The target audience of Walt Disney studios is children as their films create a illusion giving children hopes and dreams however due to Walt Disney being around for so many years it don't just attract its target audience but adults and teenagers also and their films do relate to an older audience as well as a younger one. Over the years Walt Disney ident has changed dramatically this is due to the castle that they display over the years the castle has got bigger and bigger and the graphics have changed dramatically leaving this castle going from being rather small and basic to big and dramatically eye catching and as well as Disney adverting their production company due to this castle being in their Disney theme park they are also advertising that too which was a very creative idea for Disney to promote.

Universal Studios have always kept the glob in their logo however changed the font of the universal a lot as years have gone on they have also changed their logo from black and white to color, the logo of the company represents how the production company is global. This major production company is one that had been around for many years leaving a lot of changes happening to it. Universal have also changed their theme tune very occasionally to fit the actual film which gives a bigger effect on the audience and keeps them more interested.

Warner Bros has not changed much over the years its changed a little bit and graphics have become a lot better their logo represents two brothers that made a production company there is not much meaning behind it.

BBC Films

BBC Films is a indie production company it has not changed much over the years due to it having less money then major production companies it has been founded since 1922 and has a very basic logo its a British film production company which is funded by our taxes. Its intentions were to educate and entertain their viewing audience which it still successfully does to this day.

LionsGate

LionsGate is a indie film company which has changed over time becoming more high tech and modern this is due to how much technology has improved over the years and its cheaper for film companies to improve on their idents making them look at such a higher standard than before.
