Animatic
In this post i am going to be discussing animatics. An animatic is a moving story board it helps to show people the purpose of what your film is about it is normally seen as the draft version of a film. This basically makes an animated storyboard. This is a way in which producers or film makers show their ideas on how a film will be structured, transition and most importantly run. The best bit about this is you don't have to be artistic to make one of these its just a basic way of showing ideas you have created for a film.
I created an animatic which will be shown below. My animatic is the plan of an opening of a thriller so effects have been added such as sounds and music to give of the fact it is a thriller. This helps to demonstrate to class mates and give me and my group a good idea on what do do when filming and editing our thriller. I also used some transitions to give it a more interesting effect.

StoryBoard
These are the pictures i took of mine and my groups storyboard of our thriller. A storyboard is when you draw and explain an idea of an animated sequence into pictures. The drawings can be as simple as stick men and are then explained in detail to tell what is happening information such as editing, duration, camera angle/ shot type is included. You can make a storyboard to create an animatic like i did in another blog however it is most importantly made to show an animated sequence in the most basic form. A storyboard is used frequently when planning for films and TV shows to be able to explain your idea in an easy straight forward way.
Mine and my groups story of our thriller was based on two teenage girls walking around a nature park in their free time gossiping. The girls then realize they are being followed by a guy wearing all black clothing who is out to kill these two girls and a group of their friends too, at the end of our opening of the thriller both girls are killed by this horrific person which we explain in detail on our story bored that we think we have done a good job of as we thought through the timing of each shot the sounds and the shots and angles we will use in the filming and kept the drawings basic so they didn't look to messy.

Rough Cut
This is the rough cut of our thriller. A rough cut is showing a simple version of footage edited together that has no transitions the footage clips are just cut and edited together. We done this so we didn't end up complicating things by rushing to do all the editing at once.
Moodboard
This is some pictures if me and my groups moodboard that we created. A moodboard is when you stick pictures down on a piece of paper of idea's that you have of something. This will then show a rough picture of what your idea will look like and what things are relevant towards the idea.
On mine and my groups moodboard we show our ideas on the setting of our thriller the costumes and props we are planning to use in it. When we spoke about the setting of our thriller we all decided rather quickly that we wanted to have it in some kind of forest or nature park so we stuck down some pictures of girls in forests similar to the picture in our head were they looked rather scared as this is the picture we wanted to create in our thriller. For costumes we decided to go for the mysterious black effect trying to keep our killer with no identity we wanted to use masks and black hoodies and black gloves to create tension to our audience when watching this.We had ideas of the props that we would use a weapon to do the killing in our thriller however we knew it was going to be a knife we didn't know what type of knife to use so we decided to put a few different ones in before making up our mind. We also had blood as a prop as we wanted to show our characters dead and this would result in blood to make it believable. Finally our last prop that we showed in this moodboard was a picture of a group of girls with the two characters that the hoodie guy kills being in the picture with them crossed of within the picture we thought this was a great idea as it will show a lot of suspense. Together we thought that our moodboard is very effective and showed a great variety of the plans that we had come up with for our thriller in a very simple but effective way.

Graphic Match
In this blog I'm going to be discussing the use of a graphic match.
A graphic match is a cut in film editing between two different objects, two different compositions or two different spaces were objects in two shots both graphically match this is normally shown in film editing that is trying to show strong continuity of action. I and some class mates filmed a graphic match in our preliminary task did this graphic match of a pen as i was writing and then there was a cut and then Sarah was walking with a different pen pinned on her top. Graphic matches are very effective when it comes to wanting to cut to a different place or scene, we found this very effective and decided to also do this in our opening of a thriller as it cuts time and its effective towards the audience.
below is a few examples of graphic matches.
This graphic match shows a girl eating an apple and then it changes to the apple sign on a Mac laptop this is an example of a graphic match as it goes from one scene to the next effectively it also zooms into the Apple and then zooms out of the apple sign of the Mac, this is is a good way in which to change the scene.

This gif is a good example of a graphic match, the traffic line suddenly turns into the sun it transitions seamlessly from the traffic light to the sun which means continuity is good and it runs through smoothy.
This is a very well known example of a graphic match were a bone turns into a spacecraft this helps link the two scenes and keep continuity.
